...Art Déco
:

Art Déco is not committed to a certain style, the term "art-deco" simply indicates that art is used for decorating purposes  (as opposed to other intentions that artwork may have), which means that the paintings should be in harmony with the room they hang in.  It´s about painting a picture to enhance the looks of a room.

Often the pictures  that looked  good in a gallery don´t  quite fit in at home. The Art Deco Painter will first look where a picture is supposed to hang, which mood you want it to evoke, and which surrounding it is supposed to complete, before defining what the actual painting should look like, so that in in the end, you have paintings that look as if they had "grown" in your room - because they were made especially  for it:  carefully selected size, elaborated details, and, most important, colors that perfectly match the rest of the room.

The subject of such a painting can be anything you like - the choice is up to you. Or, if you´re not sure what would look good in your particular case, of course I am there  to give you advice.

Moreover, your special advantage is that you are buying  directly from the artist, which means a 50% saving compared with what you would pay for an equal painting at a gallery.

This is also the ideal way of aquiring decorative artwork for hotel rooms, large offices, etc.  You probably do not have the time to browse through several galleries to find  suitable  paintings for 50 hotel-rooms - the art-deco-artist can make them for you!  Maybe all the rooms look similar and you want similar paintings,  yet not the usual cheap-looking, unpersonal  artprints -you and your guests will love the art-deco-paintings!

...Colours:

A word on choosing colours

Since this is a very important part of the whole art-deco- painting- thing, I decided to devote an extra chapter to this.

The colours of a painting can, often even more than its subject, influence our mood and whether we like the painting or not. What is more, since many paintings nowadays are non-figurative, the colours and their composition get more important than ever!

Art deco painting can be an almost magic thing- very different colours can be assembled in one room, but a carefully chosen painting including all those colours can make a daring combination of colours work and look great, whilst an uncareful mix-and-match can let it all fall apart.

When we are choosing the colours for your art-deco painting, we consider the following: the colours already represented in the room, the athmosphere you want there (e.g. relaxing, dramatic, glamorous, inspiring...), the light in your room, and of course your favorite colours.

... the Artist:

Clelia-Maila dell´Este

I´m really no fan of writing CVs and all that stuff, so let´s just say the  most important thing, which is that I discovered my passion for fine arts at an early age and have been painting and doing other artwork for practically my whole life.

I remember vividly the day when I was still a small child and my grandpa, who used to draw pictures with me,  showed me how to blend together primary colours to obtain secondary colours,  and the play of colours has fascinated me ever since.

In all the artwork  I´m doing,  I´m paying  special attention to the expression and harmony of the different colours, experimenting with all shades of each colour. This is especially important for my art-deco paintings, since they are supposed to match the colours of their environment.

I am often asked which colours I prefer, but the truth is I love them all and I wouldn´t want to miss the slightest shade! For me, there are no "ugly" colours, just inappropriate ones.  It´s the context that makes a colour work, and  it´s my passion to give you advice on which colours work in your environment.
